Frequently asked questions

DO I HAVE TO AUDITION?
There is no in-person audition for YCP26. However, all applicants must complete the application process, as participants are selected based on their application materials. Our teaching artists will review each application, which includes a headshot, a 3-minute audition video, and a short letter of motivation. WHAT IS NVA & GUESTS LOOKING FOR IN A YCP DANCER?
We are looking for advanced students who have some previous dance training. Students who are a great fit for the program are: open and eager to learn about the creative process, ready to try new things out of their comfort zone, kind and respectful collaborators, and interested in learning what a professional career in dance can look like.

IS THERE A FEE TO AUDITION?
No! It is completely free to submit an application.

IF I’M CURRENTLY 13 YEARS OLD BUT WILL BE 14 BY THE TIME THE PROGRAM BEGINS, CAN I AUDITION?
Yes! As long as you will turn 14 before the program begins, you are welcome to apply.

WHEN WILL I BE NOTIFIED OF THE AUDITION RESULT?
All applicants will be notified by May 15, 2026.

IF I AM NOT ACCEPTED TO THE PROGRAM, CAN I RECEIVE FEEDBACK ON MY AUDITION VIDEO?
We are not able to offer feedback on audition videos or applications if you are not accepted to the program.

IS THERE A DRESS CODE FOR THE WORKSHOPS?
There is no dress code for our workshop. Though we strongly recommend that you bring knee pads, socks and long sleeve t-shirts. Please wear whatever makes you most comfortable.

CAN I GET COLLEGE CREDIT FOR TAKING THE WORKSHOP?
We do not offer college credit.

ARE YOU OFFERING DROP-IN CLASSES?
We are not offering drop-ins for our upcoming YCP Workshop 2026.

I MISSED THE APPLICATION DEADLINE. IS THERE ANY WAY I CAN STILL ATTEND?
We’re sorry you missed the deadline! We have opened up a waitlist for people like you. To be considered, please fill out the application form, and we will reach out to you via email as soon if a spot becomes available.

HOW LARGE ARE THE CLASSES?
Class sizes are under 18 students.

HOW MANY NVA & GUESTS STAFF MEMBERS ARE ON SITE?
Two teaching artists will lead each of the workshop sessions. Our program coordinator will be on site with students for the duration of the program.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING EACH DAY?
We recommend to bring: knee pads, socks, long- sleeved shirts, a notebook, water bottle, and a snack or packed lunch.

I'M COMING FROM OUT OF TOWN. WHEN SHOULD I PLAN TO ARRIVE SO THAT I DON’T MISS ANYTHING? DO YOU PROVIDE HOUSING?
Please plan to arrive between 15min-30min before your first class. We do not provide nor take care of your housing, per diems, or travel expenses.
