Tomorrow

TOMORROW, directed by Nicole von Arx, is a new 20-minute installation work created on the theme of Water. It combines dance, music, a pre-recorded voice, and video projections.

A few weeks ago, Nicole von Arx asked her childhood friend, and environmental scientist, Melissa Gomis, about her thoughts on climate change. The work weaves together her honest and personal answers with the performance of three exceptional dancers. Navigating between hope and anxiety, the performers float, sway and tumble as if transforming from water to fractured ice. The show takes place on an enormous and gorgeous rooftop - NOoSPHERE’ Stage Roof - surrounded by a sewage treatment plant, a landfill, the Kingsland Wildflowers, dreamy views of Manhattan, and one of the most polluted waters in the US - The Newton Creek. This juxtaposition between art and literal trash invites the audience to question: Will the world we know today be the same as the one of tomorrow?

Created in collaboration with the dancers, Michael Greenberg, Maddy Wright, and Caitlin Taylor, TOMORROW is a meditative moment and at the same time - a call to action.

Costumes are recycled from previous works. The fabrics were collected from Materials for the Arts.
