ABOUT THE CLASSES
Floorwork with Undercurrent
Undercurrent offers a deep dive into the vigor, mechanics, and joy of floorwork technique. In these classes, movers will be guided through a constant stream of sequences, each using the architecture of the body to make progressively challenging movement smooth, strategic, strengthening, and sustainable. As the flow gathers momentum, these concepts grow in complexity and dynamic range. With clarity and care, active investigations are supported and fed throughout the class by weaving biomechanical safety into innovative inversions, energetic efficiency, full-body engagement, and fluid choreographic sequencing.
NVA & Guests Repertoire with Nicole von Arx and David Flores
Dive into NVA & Guests partnering work while learning parts of the company’s repertoire of the production “Stay With Me”. Through tactile feedback and responsive engagement, dancers will gain creative tools to expand their movement vocabulary and build trust in ways to share their weight and receive the weight of others.
Making Meaning, Bodies and their Opposites with Joseph Hernandez
In this workshop we will explore complexity as a vehicle for entertainment, rigour, and research; delving into the infinite possibilities of the imagination when coupled with a (not so insignificant) amount of focus. We will sweat, think, and breathe through complicated body situations -- investigating our patterns, flipping them upside down, and seeing what kind of beauty we can see on the other side.
